5 Tips to Planning a Successful Event

To get a different result, you must be willing to change the way you plan. You must go back to the drawing board and elect strategic planning. How simple does that sound?  The perfect party/event that we all envision in our minds can be achieved. After all, if you can dream it, you can make it happen.  Here are five simple ways by which you can plan a picture-perfect party.

1.  Budgeting: You need to plan according to your set budget. Create a list of everything you think you'll need for the specific type of event you are planning. The list and your budget should be both realistic and attainable. Once you have your list, you should then determine whether the total amount is within your budget. If the total amount of money on your list has exceeded your set budget, then you should either increase your budget or trim down your list.  Don't leave anything hanging!!!

2. Plan ahead: Ideally, most events should be planned at least six months ahead.  Depending on how grand you want your event to appear, you should allow ample time for planning.  Don't try to be a super star and then become overwhelmed shortly before the party/event.  If you plan ahead, it gives you the opportunity to adjust your budget, if need be. You have to be proactive.

3.  Execute: Once you have a set budget and planning is underway, you should begin to execute.  Items on your list should be prioritized.  For example, you don't send out your invites unless you have a secured a venue.!!!  Rather, you should survey, search for, and secure a venue prior to sending out invites!! To avoid distraction, try as much as possible to stay within your set budget.

4. Delegate: As I said earlier, don't try to be a super star.  We already know how excellent of a planner you are.  Do not be scared of soliciting for the help of others since you can't possibly make the party happen all by yourself.  Be mindful of details and surround yourself with positive and reliable people.  You also have ensure that you make follow-up phone calls and verify that the people you delegate actually understand what your needs are.  The last thing you need is someone who will disappoint you at the last minute.  Another option is to hire a professional planner. Someone who can really make your dreams, a reality.

5. Relax: This is the hardest part for most people.  You should learn to enjoy your event and "be at your event".  I have heard so many people say "I didn't even know you attended my party".  On the day of your event, you should be relaxed and stress-free because sincerely, there's not so much you can do at that very moment that will make a difference.  Be with your guests and don't be an absentee at your own event!!!
